Bumbuna

Joule Africa has entered into an agreement with the government of Sierra Leone to start work on the development of Phase II of the existing Bumbuna Hydroelectric Plant (BHP). The second phase is expected to significantly increase the power capacity of BHP by 500% from 50MW to 250MW.

Joule Africa has engaged international engineering firm, Lahmeyer International, to undertake the feasibility studies, in conjunction with local firms. Construction is expected to commence by 2014, pursuant to the findings of this study.

As part of the preparatory work, a comprehensive environmental and social impact study is being undertaken with recommendations that will ensure Joule Africa meets or exceeds World Bank standards for responsible and sustainable development.
